In the busy world we live in, we seldom have time for ourselves. Everything is always moving & fast paced. In return, we have shorter attention spans & limited patience for everything and everyone that we barely have the time to “stop and smell the flowers”. Patience has been a talent now instead of a virtue because we simply don’t have time to wait anymore as there are more things to be done.
Multi tasking is being encouraged because 24 hours a day and 7 days in a week isn’t enough for one person anymore. Consequently, multi-taskers somehow look half baked as 100% is not given to one project. A habit that is originally meant for people to do more is actually agitating their thoughts that they couldn’t give the proper results.
So what do we do?
In eastern philosophies, they value time. They believe that being one with yourself will make you more productive than being in a hurry. They believe in building yourself first before going into other things.
We are originally meant for doing one thing at a time. Even computers, cellphones, and other gadgets slow down when we try to “multi task” them. Each and everyone of us needs to concentrate on one thing and finish it. Today, sometimes we barely even finish it or if we do, it’s not given the attention it should have.
Learning from this, I think that yes multi tasking can be a tempting habit to religiously follow but you know what they say, “jack of all trades, master of none”
